Schwinn 438 allows training not only the legs (like on ordinary cardio) but also arms and chest which gives one’s body a good overall workout. The special magnetic field generated is used to control the resistance with 16 predefined levels, so one can tune the trainer to it’s own strength. The 438 is also equipped with heart-rate monitors of two types grip and a telemetric one which user wraps on the chest for more precise measurement. The handlebars have three possible positions for three type of arms length, so you can use it fully even if you are short-armed or have very long arms.

The LCD display shows the number of calories burned, the time user is training, users heart rate and many more. Anf of course right below the LCD is a bottle holder so one doesn’t need to get out to have a drink (which is essential when doing aerobic exercises!). And there is also a reverse mode for those capable of doing such strange task.

Schwinn 438 has a multitude of available programs ranging from recovery mode for users that are just trying to build muscles after few weeks of lying in the bed, calorie goal for those who weight a bit more and want to lose it the efficient way, to the fitness test that a sportsman could do and a results mode for a good preparation before a marathon. Of course besides many built in programs one can define custom ones but only two.

Just a tip for anyone trying to loose calories, try to do a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) with this Elliptical Trainer. It basically goes like this: do as fast as possible for 30 seconds and then for the next 30 seconds do light moves, such as when jogging (that is try to reduce the heart beat so you could speak while do this exercise) and then repeat from the beginning. If you are a beginner than do it just 5 times, every second day. After each week add another inverval (30s speed + 30s rest) up to 15-17 intervals and stay at this level. This way you will train for 15 minutes max and loose as much weight as others do for 30-60 minutes.

As for the setting up the machines after receiving it, it is very easy anyone can do it, but keep in mind that if you try to assemble the Schwinn 438 alone it might take up to 3 hours. But after the assembly it is easy to use the device and loose the overweight calories.

This Schwinn product is one of the best products that one can buy for in house use. It’s not as professional as Precor ones but is twice as cheap.
